Late Dr Abdul Kalam - a youth Icon
Today we are here to
celebrate the meaningful life of late Dr AJP Abdul Kalam ,the 11th
President of India .
A multifaceted
personality, a man of technology, a scientist to be proud of, a teacher and a leader will be deeply cherished
by a grateful nation.An author who inspired millions of young hearts, who believed Swami Vivekananda’s , famous quote,
“ Arise, Awake, and Achieve.”
He believed and said,
“I
am one of the citizens of the billion; only the vision will ignite the billion
souls.”
So he ignited and inspired the youth, where he took teaching seriously.
I will keep the lamp of knowledge burning to achieve the
vision - Developed India, which he did until his last breath.

He came from a financially poor background

He was never the first ranker at school but he was hard working towards his dreams
·
His financial condition never stopped him from dreaming and studying
As
any other youth he also had unfulfilled dreams. He wanted to become a pilot. But
placed ninth when only eight positions were available at the Indian Air Force
He left a message for the youth by living a life that will be admired by
any young person.
Late Dr. Kalam had said one of modern India's greatest strengths was its
youth.
"No other democratic nation has world’s largest youth population.
The ignited mind of the youth is the most powerful resource -- on the earth,
above the earth, under the earth -- and we have that," he said.
In the last 15 years, he
had interacted with more than 18 million youngsters either face-to-face or over
the internet.
Teaching, inspiring and
igniting young minds were his passion.
He died while doing such a
noble mission.
"late Dr Kalam
never 'talked over' with the youth, he 'talked with' them," "He went
down to the level understandable by the person he was speaking to, whether
school children or IIM students. That's why young people connected to him and
loved him so much."
My note will be incomplete if I do not quote Dr
Kalams’ poem for the youth,
Oath for the Youth
I will have a goal and work hard to achieve that goal.
I realize that small aim is a crime.
I will work with integrity and succeed with integrity.
I will be a good member of my family, a good member of the society, a
good member of the nation and a good member of the world.
I will always try to save or better someone’s life, without any
discrimination of caste, creed, language, religion or state. Wherever I am, a
thought will always come to my mind. That is “What can I give?”
I will always protect and enhance the dignity of every human life
without any bias.
I will always remember the importance of time. My motto will be “Let not
my days, be spent in vain”.
I will always work for clean home, clean planet Earth and clean energy.
As a youth of my nation, I will work and work with courage to achieve
success in all my tasks and enjoy the success of others.
I am as young as my faith and as old as my doubt. Hence, I will light up
then, the lamp of faith in my heart.
My National Flag flies in my heart and I will bring glory to my nation.
I will fly
“I am born with potential.
I am born with goodness and trust.
I am born with ideas and dreams.
I am born with greatness.
I am born with confidence.
I am born with wings.
So, I am not meant for crawling,
I have wings, I will fly
I will fly and fly”
This is the belief that late Dr Kalam sew in the young minds of the
nation.
He gave wings to them.
He made them to dream.
He wanted them to fly high.
